FInal Task: Roommate

Image
Here is my final task. I worked very hard on it and I hope whoever watches it enjoys it. It was a time-staking process to film and edit.

Editing my Final Task

Image
Today I had to attend testing at school, which disrupted my filming schedule a bit. I originally planned on filming the final two scenes this morning, but I couldn't due to the testing. Since the scenes take place during the morning time, I could not film them later in the day. Instead, I have to simply wait for tomorrow. Instead, I aimed to finish most of my editing to ensure productivity.  I played around with many of the clips' lengths. I wanted to make sure that the transitions had a consistent and professional flow. I also added a majority of my titles today, such as the production team and the actors names. I had to choose a font that was different from my original choice since I could not import such font into iMovie. I played around with the text placements and how long each text lasted per clip. While editing, I had to find out exactly what titles I needed. I had to go back to the presentations from class to check which titles were mandatory and which ones weren't.

Filming my Final Task

I am 3/4 finished with filming. I have made more changes to my storyboard/plot. This is because I realized my project seemed more like a short film instead of an opening sequence. So I fixed the ended so it didn't actually 'end' the plot. I realized this mistake yesterday whilst thinking of how to film the final scenes. Some scenes from my original storyboard also had to be altered for functional purposes. Some clips I had planned were very difficult to film since I did not have the proper props/equipment. For example, one of the scenes required a birds eye view -- yet I could not find a way to do this without a tripod. This resulted in me adding and deleting some scenes and instead replacing them with something fitting but easier to film. Of course I would of preferred not to have done this but it was the most viable thing to do. When trying to add the titles, I realized I cannot import a custom font into iMovie mobile. I have to use one of the fonts that already come wit

Filming my Final Task

I am continuing the filming and editing process for my final task. I have made significant progress over the last two days. While filming, I realized some of my scenes on the storyboard didn't make sense so I had to alter them a bit. The picture below shows some of my filming process. I had to come up with unique ways to prop up my phone for some of the scenes. For example, for the picture below, I was trying to get a shot of the radio. I played around with a centerpiece, coasters, and book to see how those could help position my phone. After a few tries, I eventually just found a different angle on a shelf to put my phone on. This happened a lot while filming. If I had a tripod or phone stand, I would not have this problem as much. Another unique method I used while filming was utilizing a skateboard. I wanted to capture a tracking shot but had nobody to help me shoot it. So instead, I grabbed my skateboard and put a heavy candle on it. I leaned my phone against the candle so it

Filming my Final Task

I have made lots of progress with my filming. It has been going smoothly for the most part except for some minor problems. One of these problems is that it is hard for me to properly film without background noise. Earlier today when I tried to film, my mom was on the phone for about 20 minutes which resulted in her voice being in one of my clips. I had to re-film this part once the house was quiet. Another issue is filming the handheld parts. Since it is just me, I cannot be in the shot while also holding the camera. Some of my scenes I want the camera to be held instead of stagnant. I will have to ask my parents for assistance or invite a friend over to help. I would like this since thrillers often use a hand held camera for an eerie effect. It has been hard for me to stick to schedule for various reasons. I either get busy with other stuff to do (such as homework) or don't have motivation. Admittedly, I am a bit behind in terms of how much progress I should have by now. I am wor

Sound for my Film

Image
For my film, I am using a variety of sounds. I am using music, for example, which is non-diegetic and diegetic. I am also using sound effects, which is common in any type of film. The sound increases the viewer's watching experience. Sound makes scenes feel more immersive. I wanted the music I used to be reflective of the genre: creepy. After learning about copyrights, I decided to use songs that had no licenses. This means that anyone can use the songs free of charge. After looking online for the perfect songs, I looked online for sound effects. I found sound effects that were free to use just like the songs, and they sounded just how I wanted them to.  The sound is a very crucial aspect to a great film. Many films are known just for their powerful soundtrack alone. For example, many people associate that one song with the Titanic. Associating movies with certain sounds makes them memorable. I want people to watch my film and think the sounds used are very effective. While editin
